Advancing DECT technology
In the run-up to DECT World 2015, there's the added excitement as we approach the DECT Forum's first
ever product awards, as judged by two leading industry luminaries – and your editor. Inside, you will
find quick interviews with the two industry judges too, just to give you an insight into their thinking
about which products were best. It was a tough job.
And which products were short-listed? Turn to page 4/5 to find out!
At DECT World itself, you'll be able to get the latest updates about DECT, CAT-iq and ULE, and meet key players in the business, as well as gaining a comprehensive overview of current activities in all aspects of DECT. As many have said, it's the best forum for networking in the industry.
So to whet your appetite, in this issue we have interviews with representatives from Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia, GFK, and conference chairman Bill Ablondi.
Additionally, in this issue you'll find a feature on the latest in developments on the cutting edge of DECT technology, such as a round-up of how DECT and the Internet of Things (IoT) are natural partners – think about the millions of DECT devices there out there already and you can see that DECT is already way further down the road than many competing technologies. It's easy to see too that this potent combination of voice and data can bring unique and valuable applications to the IoT and, with the ability to support both, DECT/ULE is the ideal technology candidate.
Inside, we show ULE technology on display at the annual Consumer Electronics Show, a mecca for all things technological. We have a feature from RevoLabs, which demonstrates how DECT technology can achieve revolutionary performance in terms of numbers of microphones in a conferencing scenario, enabling much more natural communication, with automatic channel selection providing error resilience and eliminating audio disruption.
And just in case you thought that new product releases were standing still – as if! - there's a raft of news stories. These report on new devices that make innovative use of the unique attributes of DECT technology, such as new Plantronics headsets and DECT phones from Panasonic, as well as industry and product update stories from AT4 Labs, Mitrastar and NEC.
So, as ever, I hope you find the contents stimulating, interesting and useful, and if there is something you would like to contribute to the
next edition of DECT Today, please contact the DECT Forum and we will do the rest.
