Silicon, software, products and applications demonstrate the transition of DECT NR+ towards commercial deployment
Munich, Germany – September 15, 2026 – The DECT Forum will bring together the growing international DECT NR+ ecosystem at DECT World 2026 in Munich on 2–4 November, as the technology moves into a new phase of commercial development.
DECT NR+ is the first non-cellular 5G technology designed for IoT, Industrial IoT and Professional Audio applications. Standardised by ETSI and recognised by the ITU as part of the 5G family of technologies, NR+ enables organisations to build private wireless networks without depending on a public cellular operator.
The ecosystem developing around NR+ now extends across the technology and product supply chain, from silicon, software and protocol stacks to infrastructure, equipment manufacturers and companies developing applications for specific markets.
From ecosystem to commercial deployment
Over the past year, the DECT NR+ ecosystem has continued to expand and gain momentum across the technology value chain, with semiconductor providers (Nordic Semiconductor, Last Mile Semiconductor), stack and software providers (Wirepas, DSR Corporation, and STRATUM 9), and product and solution companies (Siemens, Schneider Electric, Legrand, R3 Solutions and Lobaro) driving growing industry adoption. In the Professional Audio market, companies such as Sennheiser and Shure are among those exploring its potential.
Evidence of the transition towards commercial deployment is also emerging. In March 2026, Legrand and Schneider Electric demonstrated NR+ interoperability across nearly 100 devices using production-grade technology, while STRATUM 9 has announced an industrial-grade NR+ gateway for mobile real-time applications. The DECT Forum’s NR+ certification programme is also progressing, initially focused on Building Automation and expected to be available to manufacturers by mid 2027.
At the same time, the ecosystem is increasingly organising around specific markets. The Buildings Interest Group (BIG) and Audio Interest Group (AIG) are already established, while DECT World 2026 will see the formal launch of a new Industrial Interest Group (IIG) for organisations developing NR+ for industrial applications and automation.

The technology is proven and the ecosystem is in place,” said Christian Schepke, Chairman of the DECT Forum. “The conversation is moving from what NR+ could enable to what companies can build and deploy with it. DECT World will bring that ecosystem together and provide a clear view of where the technology is heading next.”
DECT World 2026
The DECT World 2026 programme begins on the afternoon of 2 November with the Opener Initiative’s “How to get started with NR+” pre-event. The hands-on session will provide engineers and developers with a practical introduction to NR+, demonstrations, access to experts and guidance on getting their own projects underway.
The main DECT World conference takes place on 3–4 November, bringing together technology providers, manufacturers, developers, users and industry experts.
