Allocation of DECT Frequency Band (1880 - 1900 MHz)

Tuesday 14 May 2024

Bern, Switzerland. In response to concerns regarding the future of the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) band in Germany, the DECT Forum has taken proactive steps to address uncertainties. Amidst speculations, the DECT Forum reached out to the Bundesnetzagentur, Germany's Federal Network Agency, seeking clarity on the matter. The DECT Forum received written confirmation assuring the extension of the DECT band allocation until 2035, aligning with the regulations set forth by the European Union (EU) and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT).

The decision to extend the DECT band allocation until 2035 aligns seamlessly with the regulatory framework established by the European Union and CEPT, demonstrating Germany's commitment to harmonising its telecommunications policies with international standards.

With the prolongation of the DECT band, stakeholders now can proceed with confidence, drive innovation and meet the evolving needs of consumers and businesses alike.
